Asymmetric Crop Top — PDF Sewing Pattern
A cropped top with one clean diagonal seam across the front, three-quarter sleeves and a wide boat neckline. The asymmetric front panel looks like a draped, tailored piece. It is one straight seam.
Why it looks harder than it is The overlap is not draped and it is not fitted on the body. The front is cut as two flat pieces that join along a single straight diagonal line. You sew that line once, press it, and the crossover shape appears on its own. There is no closure to insert, no zip, no buttons, no buttonholes. The back is one plain panel with a level hem.

Recommended fabrics Medium-weight stable wovens with a soft drape: crepe, scuba crepe, gabardine, lightweight suiting, viscose twill. The asymmetric edge holds its shape best in a fabric with body. Avoid very fluid fabrics such as silk georgette for a first version, and avoid stretch jersey — a knit lets the overlap edge roll.
Fabric needed (140-150 cm wide) XS-S: 1 m · M-L: 1.2 m · XL-XXL: 1.5 m · 3XL: 1.7 m
You will also need Matching thread, a universal machine needle in a size suited to your fabric, pins or clips, fabric scissors, a tape measure and an iron.
Skill level Confident beginner. Straight seams only, plus one faced neckline. If you have sewn a simple top before, you can sew this.
