There is exactly one difficult thing in this bag, and it is the thing that makes it look bought.

Setting a zip into a curve. Anyone can sew a zip along a straight edge — the fabric behaves, the seam lies flat. Put that same zip along the curved top of a crescent and the edge of the fabric is longer than the zip, and the whole thing wants to pucker. That pucker is the difference between a bag that looks handmade and a bag that looks made.

The instructions take you through it step by step, with illustrations: staystitch, clip, sew with the panel on top, press over a ham. Once you can set a zip into a curve, you can do it on anything you sew afterwards. ✨

The rest is straight seams. If you can sew a straight line and install a zip, you can make this bag.

Bag pieces are large curved shapes, and curves tile badly across home-printer pages — you line up one curve across several taped seams, which is exactly where the shape goes wrong. Take the A0 file to a copy shop: one sheet, one curve, cut and go.
