🌸 Dresden Plate Quilt - PDF Quilt Pattern
Sixteen plates on a solid background - full-size petal template - scrap friendly - instant PDF download

The Dresden Plate is one of the oldest scrap blocks there is, and it still works for the same reason it always did: every petal can be a different fabric, and the more fabrics you use the better it looks.

This version sets sixteen plates on a solid coloured background, four across and four down. The centre of every plate is left open and filled with the background fabric, so each block reads as a ring rather than a disc. That one decision is what keeps a quilt full of busy prints calm enough to live with.

✔️ WHAT'S INCLUDED
✔️ Full-size petal template and centre circle template
✔️ Step-by-step illustrated instructions
✔️ Block construction and appliqué guide
✔️ Full quilt layout diagram
✔️ Cutting chart
✔️ US Letter and A4 files

✂️ FABRIC & NOTIONS
Cotton scraps for the petals - a 3 in strip is enough for several
Solid cotton for the background, the centres and the binding

Cotton batting
Cotton thread for piecing and appliqué
Rotary cutter, ruler and mat, or fabric scissors
Straight pins
Iron

🛍️ WHY SEWISTS LIKE THIS ONE
Every petal can be a different fabric, so the scrap bag does the work

Questions makers ask

Do I need a special printer?
Nope! Every pattern is tiled to print on a regular home printer using standard A4 or US Letter paper — just tape the pages together and you're ready to cut. Prefer no taping? Each pattern also includes a large-format A0 file you can send to a copy shop, plus a projector file if you sew with one.
I'm a complete beginner — can I do this?
Absolutely. Our patterns are designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear, illustrated step-by-step instructions that guide you through the whole process. Thousands of first-time makers have sewn our patterns with no prior experience.
How do I get my pattern after I buy?
Instantly. The moment your payment is confirmed, your files are ready to download — and we'll also email you a download link so you always have access. No waiting, no shipping.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes! You're welcome to sell finished items you make from our patterns. We just ask that you don't share, resell, or redistribute the pattern files themselves.
What sizes are included?
Each pattern comes with a full size range and a detailed size chart so you can pick your perfect fit before you start. All sizes are layered in the file, so you only print the size you need.
What if I get stuck?
We're here to help. If anything's unclear or you run into trouble, just reach out by email and we'll get you back on track — usually within 24 hours.
