šŸ‘– Kids Barrel Leg Trousers — PDF Sewing Pattern

8 sizes, 80–150 cm Ā· Unisex Ā· Pull-on elastic waist Ā· Seam allowance included Ā· A4, US Letter, A0 and projector files

Barrel-leg trousers, in children's sizes. The shape adults have been wearing for two years, drafted properly for a body between 80 and 150 centimetres — which is not a scaled-down adult pattern, and it shows.

The curve is the whole garment. The leg swings out through the thigh, holds its width, then draws back in at the ankle. That is what makes it look designed rather than simply loose — and it is also what makes it comfortable to move in, because the width is where a child needs it and the narrowing is where trousers otherwise catch on shoes.

And it pulls on. An elastic waistband, no zip, no button, no fly. A four-year-old dresses herself.

🧵 Recommended Fabrics

Woven fabrics: corduroy, twill, cotton or linen.

Corduroy is worth singling out. Its wale runs vertically, which follows the outward and inward curve of the leg instead of cutting across it — the barrel shape reads more clearly in cord than in almost anything else. Avoid large-scale checks and geometric prints for the same reason: a grid of straight lines fights a curved silhouette, and the shape disappears into the pattern.

Questions makers ask

Do I need a special printer?
Nope! Every pattern is tiled to print on a regular home printer using standard A4 or US Letter paper — just tape the pages together and you're ready to cut. Prefer no taping? Each pattern also includes a large-format A0 file you can send to a copy shop, plus a projector file if you sew with one.
I'm a complete beginner — can I do this?
Absolutely. Our patterns are designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear, illustrated step-by-step instructions that guide you through the whole process. Thousands of first-time makers have sewn our patterns with no prior experience.
How do I get my pattern after I buy?
Instantly. The moment your payment is confirmed, your files are ready to download — and we'll also email you a download link so you always have access. No waiting, no shipping.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes! You're welcome to sell finished items you make from our patterns. We just ask that you don't share, resell, or redistribute the pattern files themselves.
What sizes are included?
Each pattern comes with a full size range and a detailed size chart so you can pick your perfect fit before you start. All sizes are layered in the file, so you only print the size you need.
What if I get stuck?
We're here to help. If anything's unclear or you run into trouble, just reach out by email and we'll get you back on track — usually within 24 hours.
