Big 5″ squares look enormous on a four-year-old, so this method uses 2½″ squares, sized so the patchwork reads like a little quilt rather than a few big blocks. You cover the sweatshirt, stitch each square down, open the front and finish the edges with lace. The sweatshirt gives you the fit, the sleeves and a soft lining, so there is no garment to draft.
