🧥 Unisex Leather Jacket — PDF Sewing Pattern

6 sizes, XS–2XL · Full-length front zip · Flat collar · Two welt pockets · Set-in sleeves · A4 and A0 · Seam allowance not included

A straight, clean jacket with a front zip, a flat collar and two welt pockets. No asymmetric zip, no studs, no buckles — just the classic outerwear shape that has never gone anywhere.

And you do not need leather to make it. The same pattern works in faux leather, coated cotton, heavy twill, canvas, denim or a wool blend. That matters more than it sounds: leather cannot be unpicked, every needle hole is permanent, and a hide is expensive. Cut this once in canvas or denim, check the fit across your shoulders, adjust — then cut your leather knowing it will work. You end up with two jackets and no ruined hide. ✨

🧵 What's Included

📏 Size Chart

Size Chest Waist Shoulders
XS 34″ / 86.5 cm 28″ / 71 cm 21″ / 53 cm
S 36″ / 91.5 cm 30″ / 76 cm 21½″ / 54.5 cm
M 38″ / 96.5 cm 32″ / 81.5 cm 22″ / 56 cm
L 40″ / 101.5 cm 34″ / 86.5 cm 22.6″ / 57.5 cm
XL 42″ / 106.5 cm 36″ / 91.5 cm 23.3″ / 59 cm
2XL 44″ / 112 cm 38″ / 96.5 cm 23.8″ / 61 cm

Check your shoulder measurement as well as your chest — on a jacket with set-in sleeves, the shoulder is what decides whether it sits right.

⚠️ Seam Allowance Is Not Included

This pattern is drafted to the finished stitching line. You add your own seam allowance when you cut — commonly ⅜″–⅝″ (1–1.5 cm). This is normal practice for many PDF patterns, and it has a real advantage on this jacket: leather and coated fabrics are usually sewn with a narrower allowance than woven cloth, so you can choose the one that suits your material instead of unpicking someone else's.

👔 Fabric Options

Real leather · Faux leather · Coated or waxed cotton · Heavy twill · Canvas · Denim · Wool blend

🪡 Pattern Details

🔒 Front: full-length separating zip 👔 Collar: flat pointed collar 🕳️ Pockets: two front welt pockets 💪 Sleeves: long set-in sleeves 📐 Cut: straight, classic, hip length 🖨️ Print: A4 tiled pages or A0 copy shop 📊 Difficulty: intermediate

🛍️ Materials Needed

  • Leather, faux leather or a firm woven fabric
  • A separating zip for the front
  • Strong polyester thread — and heavier topstitching thread if you want visible stitching
  • A leather needle for real leather, or a heavier universal needle for faux and coated fabrics
  • A Teflon or walking foot — a standard foot will not glide over leather or coated fabric
  • Sewing clips and pattern weights, not pins — pin holes in leather are permanent
  • Rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • A wonder clip or two for holding the zip while you sew it

⚙️ How It Works

1️⃣ Buy the pattern — your download link appears straight away 2️⃣ Print at home on A4, or take the A0 file to a copy shop 3️⃣ Check the calibration square, add your seam allowance, and cut 4️⃣ Follow the instructions and build your jacket 🧥

💛 Perfect For

Autumn and winter layering · A first serious outerwear project · Fashion students and pattern-drafting practice · Making a canvas or denim version first, then the leather one · Sewing the same jacket for two people in different sizes

📥 Instant Download

This is a digital PDF sewing pattern. Nothing physical will be shipped. Your files are available to download immediately after purchase.

📌 Please Note

Seam allowance is not included — add your own when cutting. Print at 100% or Actual Size, never Fit to Page, and check the calibration square before you cut. Leather and coated fabrics cannot be unpicked: every needle hole is permanent, so test your stitch length and tension on a scrap first. Colours may look slightly different from one screen to another. This listing is for the pattern only, not a finished jacket.
