Scrap Patchwork Quilt — PDF Pattern, Queen Size
A bed quilt built entirely from squares, with groups of coloured prints alternating with plain white squares so the colour reads as a diagonal checkerboard across the whole quilt. Finished size 78½" × 82½" (199 cm × 210 cm) — a queen bed quilt with a generous overhang.
Why it looks harder than it is
There is one shape in this quilt, and it is a square. No triangles, no curves, no points to match, no templates to trace. You cut squares, you join them in pairs, you join the pairs — and because every seam is the same seam, you sew them one after another without stopping, in a chain, and cut them apart at the end.
The white squares do more than half the work. They separate the prints, so nothing has to coordinate with anything: a fabric you would never put next to another one works fine here, because there is always white between them. That is why it takes a scrap box and turns it into a finished quilt.
