Every point on the body is a piece of fabric folded and laid over the row below — no seam to match, no quarter inch to nail, no piecing accuracy to worry about. If you can fold a square and press it, you can make every single one.

That is the real shape of this project, and it is worth knowing before you start rather than halfway through: it is not hard, it is long. Which is exactly why it is such a good December project — cutting and folding points needs no concentration at all. 🎨 Choosing and Placing Your Fabrics

The tree only reads as rows of overlapping points if neighbouring points differ in value, not just in pattern. Two greens of the same depth sitting side by side will merge into one shape, and you lose the row — along with the work you put into it.

Three things make the difference:

• Never put two points from the same colour family next to each other in a row.
• The cream points are the separators. They are what makes each row visible, the way snow does on a real tree. It is tempting to use more red and green to feel more festive — resist it.
• Shift the colours row to row, so the pale points spiral around the tree instead of stacking into vertical columns.

Keep prints small. A finished point is only a few centimetres across, so anything larger than a coin gets cut into fragments that no longer read as a motif. Small snowflakes, fine checks, tiny sprigs and solids are what work here.

The pattern is rated intermediate because of the volume of repeated pieces and because the rows need to stay level as you work around the cone. A patient confident beginner will manage it; someone who wants a finished decoration in one evening will not.
