🎨 Choosing Your Fabrics

Small-scale prints only. A doll dress shows a fragment of a pattern, so a large print reads as a blur on it. Tiny florals, fine gingham, small dots, ticking stripes and plain textures all work.

This is a scrap project in the best sense: mixing prints across a wardrobe is what makes it look like a real one rather than a set.

And the doll herself works in any plain cotton. Cream, tan, deep brown — the pattern is the same, and the hair is whatever yarn you choose.

📊 Skill Level

The doll is straightforward: simple shapes, a stuffed body, an embroidered face.

The clothes are small, and small sewing asks for patience rather than skill. The seams are short, the curves are tight and the armholes are little — nothing in them is difficult, but everything in them is fiddly. Sew the doll first, then start with a simple dress rather than the dungarees.
