Ten sizes, from a newborn's head to a grown adult's. Everyone in the family, from the same file ā and once you have found the size that fits a head, it fits it every summer until the head grows.
And every hat is two hats. Turn it inside out and it is a different one: check on one side, floral on the other. One afternoon's sewing, two hats ā which also means that when one side gets grubby at the beach, you turn it round and carry on. š
It is a sun hat before it is anything else. The brim is wide and it flops, which is the point: it shades a face rather than just sitting on a head. Made in a light cotton, it packs into a pocket and comes out uncrushed.

Measure around the head just above the ears and choose the closest size.

Straight-ish seams, a crown, a brim and topstitching. There is no closure, no fitting and nothing to adjust. If you have sewn a cushion cover, you can sew this ā and because it is reversible, there are no raw edges to finish anywhere.
