Frill Zip Pouch — PDF Sewing Pattern, 3 Sizes
A quilted zip pouch with a gathered ruffle running around the sides and base, and a small gold cross embroidered at each intersection of the quilting grid. Three sizes included. A4, US Letter and A0 files.
Why it looks harder than it is
The ruffle is not sewn onto the pouch. It is gathered on a single long stitch, laid along the edge of the front panel, and caught in the outer seam when the pouch is closed up — so it goes in at the same moment as the side seam, with nothing added afterwards.
And the ruffle is what covers that seam. On a pouch with a plain edge, a seam that wanders by a millimetre shows for the whole length. Here, the gathers sit over it. A ruffle is the most forgiving edge finish there is, which is exactly why it looks like boutique work and sews like a beginner project.

What the pouch is made of
A quilted front and back, worked in a straight-line grid through a layer of batting, with a small gold cross embroidered at each crossing. A gathered ruffle around the sides and base. A zip across the top. Fully lined.
