Fitted Tank Top — PDF Sewing Pattern, XS to XXXL
A close-fitting sleeveless top with a wide scoop neck and wide straps, cut for stretch knits. Seven sizes, XS to XXXL. Seam allowance already included.
Why it looks harder than it is
There is nothing to insert and nothing to fit. No zip, no buttons, no darts, no sleeves to ease into an armhole. The whole garment is two pieces joined at the shoulders and the sides, plus three edges to finish.
Knits also forgive what wovens do not: the fabric stretches, so a seam that wanders slightly disappears once the garment is on, and a size that falls between two sizes still fits. It is the easiest garment fabric there is to get a good result from, as long as you use the right needle and the right stitch — both explained in the instructions.
Fabric
A lightweight knit with a good amount of stretch works best: jersey, cotton knit, or any knit with at least 50 to 60 percent stretch. The fabric must have two-way or four-way stretch. A stable woven will not work for this pattern.
