THE SUNDAY BEST QUILT — PDF Sewing Pattern

Six button-down shirts become one quilt you'll keep. Gingham, stripes and checks set in clean columns against white — a modern layout that lets the fabrics you already love do the talking.

FINISHED SIZE
42" x 48" (107 x 122 cm) — throw / lap

BEFORE YOU CUT — PLEASE READ
Wash and press every shirt first. Most have been laundered for years and will have shrunk unevenly.
Set aside the worn areas — collars, elbows and underarms are thinner than they look, and they fail after quilting.
Very lightweight shirtings hold their shape better with a light fusible interfacing before cutting.
And this one matters most: start with a shirt that isn't precious. Cut one block, sew it, measure it. Only then cut the shirts you can't replace.

INCLUDED
- A4 · US Letter · A0 pattern files
- Full prep guide — trimming collars, cuffs, plackets and seams
- Cutting layouts for shirting, white fabric, backing, batting and binding
- Step-by-step assembly with diagrams
- Seam allowance: [à remplir]

SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate — though not for the reason you'd expect. The piecing is straight seams and simple columns; a confident beginner could sew it. What takes care is the preparation: taking the shirts apart, working with fabrics of different weights, and cutting cloth you can't buy more of.

Digital PDF only — nothing is shipped. Download instantly after purchase.

Questions makers ask

Do I need a special printer?
Nope! Every pattern is tiled to print on a regular home printer using standard A4 or US Letter paper — just tape the pages together and you're ready to cut. Prefer no taping? Each pattern also includes a large-format A0 file you can send to a copy shop, plus a projector file if you sew with one.
I'm a complete beginner — can I do this?
Absolutely. Our patterns are designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear, illustrated step-by-step instructions that guide you through the whole process. Thousands of first-time makers have sewn our patterns with no prior experience.
How do I get my pattern after I buy?
Instantly. The moment your payment is confirmed, your files are ready to download — and we'll also email you a download link so you always have access. No waiting, no shipping.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes! You're welcome to sell finished items you make from our patterns. We just ask that you don't share, resell, or redistribute the pattern files themselves.
What sizes are included?
Each pattern comes with a full size range and a detailed size chart so you can pick your perfect fit before you start. All sizes are layered in the file, so you only print the size you need.
What if I get stuck?
We're here to help. If anything's unclear or you run into trouble, just reach out by email and we'll get you back on track — usually within 24 hours.
